Pathology Testing
As part of your visit to Vitacript Clinic you may be required to undergo some thorough clinical testing to get the root cause of your health issues before your treatment commences.

Your naturopath will suggest the most appropriate tests for your condition based on the information gathered during your initial consultation. In addition to these tests you will also be required to fill out questionnaires which will asses lifestyle, stress levels, wellbeing and reveal if your life is in balance or not.
This assists our practitioners to determine the underlying cause of your health condition.
We take an evidence-based approach.

Vitascript offers a range of diagnostic tests:

-
BLOOD TESTING - Blood testing can reveal diseases such as liver, kidney and blood disease, thyroid disorders as well as key imbalances and nutritional deficiencies. Your practitioner may order a blood test directly through the clinic or with the assistance of your GP.
-
FUNCTIONAL PATHOLOGY TESTING - Pathology testing gives insight into the underlying cause of your health condition and any potential imbalances that can be affecting your health and wellbeing. (see more on the pathology tests we offer below)
-
TONGUE ANALYSIS - Tongue analysis can reveal improper digestive and liver function, as well as specific nutrient deficiencies.
-
NAIL ANALYSIS - Nail analysis can provide information if you are deficient in specific nutrients causing imbalances
-
IRIDOLOGY - Iridology focuses on the iris of the eye. Iris analysis can provide information about major organ, digestive and nervous system health.Find out what test you need today
-
URINE TESTING - Urine pH can help your naturopath diagnose certain diseases and disorders and can also tell you a lot about your diet. Urine pH is important when it comes to monitoring your risk of other health conditions, such as non alcoholic fatty liver disease, or kidney stones, a as extreme pH levels can cause stones to form.

Our expert Practitioners can determine which diagnostic test/s is right for you during an initial consultation.

If you are interested in diagnostic testing or if you are seeking a specific diagnostic test, please contact Vitascript directly here. You can also see a full list of our tests below.

Our Practitioners employ a wide range of Diagnostic Tests where possible. This approach means Practitioners can eliminate any other potential causes of your symptoms – as there can often be more than one cause of symptoms – and determine the best possible course of treatment to restore you back to health.

Extensive Neurotransmitter Profile Testing

The Extensive Neurotransmitter Profile Test is a urine test that assesses levels of 6 neurotransmitters, including serotonin, GABA, dopamine, noradrenaline, adrenaline and glutamate.
These neurotransmitters are the most researched in relation to their effect on mood disorders, anxiety, hormones, sleep, glucose/insulin balance, pain perception, appetite and cognitive function.

Low or high levels of neurotransmitters are observed in various mental health disorders, such as low moods, anxiety, stress, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Parkinson’s disease and panic attacks. This test does not diagnose any of these conditions, however it helps your practitioner understand where the chemical imbalance may be and what nutritional support and diet adjustments can be provided to support and correct this imbalance.

Who will this test benefit?
This test will benefit those who are experiencing unexplained alterations in mood, behavior and cognition. It is a very useful test to determine the exact altered neurotransmitter chemicals that may be contributing to your condition. By identifying these changes, your practitioner is able to formulate an individualised natural treatment plan to bring the neurotransmitters back into balance.

What happens in the Urinary Neurotransmitters test?
In your consultation your Naturopath will supply you with a test kit that provides everything you need to perform the urine test in the privacy of your own home, or your Naturopath can send you a link via email for your test, and our trusted pathology laboratory partner will send you out your test kit, you then send your urine sample to them directly, and pay them directly.

Prior to collecting your urine sample, AVOID:
-
Coffee, tea, caffeinated drinks, bananas, chocolate, cocoa, citrus fruits and vanilla for 48 hours prior to collecting the sample
-
Strenuous exercise 20 minutes prior to collecting the sample

Complete Digestive Stool Analysis

With the help of the Complete Digestive Stool Analysis (CDSA), we can evaluate the health of your digestive system. It is a non-invasive tool that shares reliable information about if you are digesting your food correctly and the levels of acidity or alkalinity of your gut and your digestive enzymes. It can also assess inflammatory levels associated with ulcerative colitis and crohn's disease. It can also be used to detect the presence of good bacteria and organisms that can cause disease.
Depending on which method is more suitable for your situation, a naturopath can either use cultured methods or DNA methods to analyse your stool sample.

What will the CDSA assess?
The CDSA will assess biochemical markers of digestion. It will also measure your intestinal metabolism metabolic markers, identify bacterial microflora and detect if there are parasites or bacteria that can cause disease.

How is the test completed?
You can rest assured that you can complete the test in complete privacy at home. If one of the naturopaths of Brisbane Naturopath has determined that you will benefit from completing this test, he/she will give you a test kit that has everything that you will require to complete the test. After you have completed the test, a courier will collect the sample which will be sent to a lab where it will be analysed. Your naturopath will then explain the results with you and offer the appropriate treatment to eliminate your gastrointestinal issues.
