Health Checks
Regular Health Checks
Regular health checks can identify any early signs of health issues, helping to prevent illnesses from developing. When you have a health check, your naturopath will screen your blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels and you will undertake a physical exam.
Your naturopath will discuss with you your medical history, current medications, your family’s history of disease and your lifestyle, including your diet, weight, physical activity, and lifestyle. You will be given your results in consultation before you leave, and a report outlining your current and future health considerations, will be emailed to you within 24 hours.
Health checks take approximately 30 minutes, and cost $79.00. If you're ready, you can book now by clicking here.
Why Health Checks Are Important
-
Check for current or emerging medical problems
-
Assess your risk of future medical issues
-
Prompt you to maintain a healthy lifestyle
-
Recommend appropriate preventive and supportive treatment

Having a health check is also a time to examine your lifestyle to see what improvements can be made. This may be something you regularly do yourself or discuss with a healthcare professional. If you have have diabetes, heart disease, kidney problems, or certain other conditions, you may need to be checked more often:
What Do We Screen For During A Health Check?
-
Cholesterol Testing & Heart Disease Prevention - If you have high cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease, kidney problems or certain other conditions, you may need to be checked more often.
-
Blood Pressure Testing - If you have high blood pressure you are at risk of cardiovascular and kidney disease.
-
Diabetes Screening - Your naturopath will screen your blood sugar levels during your health check. If you are overweight and have other risk factors for diabetes, these will be discussed during your health check.
-
Physical Exams - This is something that should occur every year. Your naturopath will check and record your weight, height and body mass index (BMI).
-
Medication Review - Your current medications will be reviewed, and any supplement-medication interactions will be assessed if you are taking natural medicines and medications at the same time.

Your naturopath may also recommend other tests based on your family history, your medical history or current symptoms. Depending on the results of those tests, your naturopath may then want to provide a course of treatment, investigate further or refer you to your GP for specialist referral for further investigation.
Medication Reviews
Medication and Supplement Interaction Check
On average, half of adults are taking at least one prescription medicine per day, and a quarter take at least three medications, rising to five or more in those of pension age. Surveys also suggest that almost one in two adults take a vitamin, mineral or herbal supplement. The older you are, the more likely it is that you are taking both a prescribed medicine and a food supplement which can lead to problems as many prescribed drugs interact with foods and supplements. Some of these interactions are beneficial, but most have the potential to cause harm.
Medication and supplements can interact in several ways, to increase or reduce their:
-
Absorption into the body.
-
Effects inside cells.
-
Activation or inactivation in the liver.
-
Speed of departure from the body via the kidneys or intestines.
Medications most usually involved in interactions are anticoagulants (e.g. warfarin, aspirin), sedatives, antidepressants, antiviral drugs, and some medicines prescribed to treat heart problems, high blood pressure and epilepsy.
In some cases, certain supplements may stop a prescribed medicine from working properly, so you lose its benefits. In other cases, the interaction could cause blood levels of the drug to rise, increasing the risks of unwanted side effects.
If you are taking any prescribed medicines, it’s vital to check for potential interactions before taking any vitamin, mineral, herbal or other food supplements.
